Shoot Discipline
Cowboy Action (Single Action)
Description
Cowboy action shooting encompasses three guns and shooting in the format of the old west. Shots are made at a combination of steel and rubber targets with varying distance from 7 – 30 meters. The game is a timed event with the shortest time winning the stage; penalties are assessed for misses and procedurals.
Equipment
To participate in three gun cowboy action the requirements entail two single action revolvers, holsters to hold revolvers, lever action rifle in pistol calibre and a double barrel or model 1897 pump shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge.
Shoot Format
Normally 3 to 4 stages will be shot. One cowpoke at a time with a range officer. Shooting will consist of 10-12 rounds from pistols, 5 – 10 rounds from the rifle and 2 – 6 rounds from a shotgun. Pistol and rifle rounds are discharged at steel and shotguns are discharged at steel and rubber targets.
Additional Information
Cowboy dress code is in effect with hat, boots etc. No running shoes, ball caps or camouflage. Leather holsters and not plastic are used in this event.
