Rules & Regulations

All members must review the onboarding document before attending the range
 
Facility Safety Rules

  • Firearms may be utilized in accordance with specific range approval(s) and shooting sports
    • See individual rules posted on each range for more specific instructions
  • Shooters must not be under the influence of any intoxicating substance(s)
    • Drugs and alcohol are prohibited at the facility
  • Eye and ear protection is mandatory for everyone while on the shooting range
    • In addition to shooters, this includes guests, observers and other non-shooters
  • A range officer must be assigned when more than one person is on the firing line
    • See “SSC Acting Range Officer Responsibilities” for more details
  • Firearms may only be loaded on the firing line or at a designated loading area
    • At all other times, firearms must be made safe, in accordance with the specified shooting format and/or the range officer’s direction
  • Loaded firearms must NEVER be pointed above the target being engaged
  • Control the muzzle direction at all times
    • Keep the firearm pointing downrange
    • Do not sweep yourself or others with the firearm
  • Handguns may be fired only on approved ranges and no further than the indicated distances on the individual range rules
  • No steel targets may be shot with a center-fire rifle calibers at a distance of less than 100 meters
  • The “Range in Use” sign must be posted upon entry to the facility and only changed to “Range Not in Use” when the last person has exited the facility
 
General Facility Procedures

  • Close and lock the gate when entering and leaving the facility, unless there is a scheduled match
    • Members are not permitted to share the gate code with anyone
  • Members must carry their membership and provide it to anyone who requests to see it, at any time
    • Anyone refusing to show their range membership upon request will be deemed to be a trespasser and will be ejected from the facility – Police may also be notified
  • All Members and guests must sign into the range book (located in buildings 5 & 6)
    • Guests shooting restricted/prohibited firearms must provide additional information, in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Shooting Clubs and Shooting Ranges Regulations
  • Pick up your garbage; including brass and carry out your garbage when you leave
    • Leave the range cleaner than when you arrived

A violation of the facility regulations or range safety rules may result in the cancellation of your membership.
Infractions will be evaluated against the transgression matrix (below) by the board and appropriate action taken.


Guest policy: 

Members are encouraged to bring guests to the Springfield Range and introduce them to the sport.

  • Members are responsible for their guest when at the facility and responsible to ensure their guest follows all posted policies (rules & regulations). If a guest is occupying a shooting position and a member wishes to use the position then the member has priority
  • A guest of a member is welcomed on the range twice and if additional attendance is requested the club requests the guest to become a member unless consent is received from the Board of Directors prior to additional visits
  • At no time shall a member have more than two shooting guests on the range at one time, unless consent is received from the Board of Directors prior to attendance. The member must act as the RO for their guests on the range.
  • Club approved RSO’s may have 4 guests on the range at one time but only up to 2 may be shooting at one time

Members are welcome to bring their children, grandchildren or other youthunder 19 years of age as a guest as they deem appropriate.
