Practical Pistol

Description
For those new to the sport of Canadian Defensive Pistol (CDP), it is a competitive shooting sport designed to challenge shooters with potential real life scenarios and direct their focus to the skills necessary to do so.   As a result this sport provides skill challenges not found in most other shooting disciplines.   An example of this would be the requirement to safely engage targets while moving from one point to another.

Equipment
Requirements include any centre fire pistol or revolver, at least 4 reloads available (magazines and speed loaders). No centre fire pistol rim fire works

A holster (concealable for CDP)
At least 200 rounds of ammunition per shoot may be required
Good footwear as you will be moving
If shooting CDP, firearm and ammunition must be concealed
Ear & eye protection is mandatory

Shoot Format
Multiple scenarios will be employed and will vary with each shoot. Stages will vary from 6 – 18 rounds to all stages revolver neutral. A combination of paper and steel targets both threat and no threat will be utilized.

This is a timed event with additional time being added for shots placed outside of the A zone on the target and or misses

Additional Information
Experience in drawing from a holster is appreciated, instructions will be provided at the safety briefing. Strict safety protocols on trigger finger, 180 degree safety zone, handling firearm other than under control of the RO or at the safety table
